Navigation of  vessels exceeding design

 

In view of the need to improve the navigation and the use of the Martin Garcia Channels according to the appropriate navigation security parameters, the River Plate´s Administrator Commission (CARP) has complemented article 1.3 of the Martín García Channel's Regulations (Reglamento de Uso y Navegación de los Canales de Martín García) in such a way that the navigation

 


of vessels exceeding the design dimensions will be allowed in accordance to the following table and subject to the meteorological conditions described below. (article 2.1 of Remaga)

For vessels with larger dimensions than those detailed in the table below, previous consultation with the concessionary and the Maritime Authorities.

"Vessels exceeding 245m lengh and 32,60m breadth will be allowed to transit the channel for which they must have 0,60m tide over chart datum with the limitation in draught  and hydrometeorological conditions that appear in the Tables I and II."

"The maximun draughts will be calculated taking into account the different factors  that have an effect on  its determination.
In case a vessel has a draught smaller than the one on Table I  in accordance with its dimensions, the minimum tide can be diminished upto a maximum of 0,30m over chart datum."
